No. This is an adult only event. Children should not attend.
So what about child care? How much and where is it?
Child care is available at Herod Elementary from 6pm until 11:30 pm or the auction concludes.
The cost is $20 for the first child and $15 for each additional child for the entire evening. This includes dinner (pizza) and popcorn. Children MUST be potty-trained.
Children will be supervised by 4-5 child care providers as well as school staff.
Who goes to silent auction?
Anyone is welcome to attend! Parents from all grades attend as well as teachers and staff. This is a fun evening outside of school and we all hope to get to know one another better.
I would like to know if my teacher is going.
Many teachers are planning to attend, but if you want to make sure your child’s teacher attends – offer to buy him/her a ticket!
How does a silent auction work?
When you check in, you will be given a sheet of stickers with a number on it. This is your bidder number. All of the auction items have a bid sheet with suggested starting bid and increasing bid amounts. Place your sticker on the amount you wish to pay to outbid the previous bidder. At the end of the auction period, the number who has the highest bid wins the item.
Is there also a live auction too?
YES! Some of our most popular items are available at LIVE auction. These items include a vacation house at Lake Tahoe, naming rights to the circle drive, jewelry, and a special afternoon adventure with Principal Turek.
What kind of items are in the silent auction?
In addition to all the wonderful class projects and baskets, we have received donations from both local and national companies. There are many gift cards for restaurants and retailers, group dinners, birthday party packages, museum memberships, concerts, spa packages, oil changes, dental services, photography packages, Herod Enrichment classes and “dates” with Herod teachers!
The theme is The Love Boat. What is the dress code?
Wear something to celebrate the occasion! This is a casual event and everyone is welcome.
What is on the buffet?
WE WILL KNOW THIS AFTER OUR TASTING IN JANUARY
What are the drink prices?
A CASH ONLY bar is available. No check cashing is available. No ATM is available. If you want to purchase drinks, please bring cash.
House Wine/House brand liquior $8
Premium liquor $10
I plan to attend, but need to leave early. Can I pay for my items and leave?
No, sorry. Check out for all auction items occurs at the end of the evening. Cash or Credit Card will only be accepted as means of payment at check out.
Can I just pick up my items at school after the auction?
The intent is that everyone pay for and pick up their won auction items the evening of the auction. If not, your winning item will be going home with . . . . someone. Not everything ends up in once place after the auction, so if you want to make sure you receive the items you won right away, plan to take them home with you that evening. Otherwise, it may be a week or more before you can receive it.
I hope that answers most if not all of your questions. If you have more, just ask!
